These art tiles are all original designs hand painted by the artist on standard size commercial tile blanks. Joan thinks of the tiles as blank canvases and the glazes as paints. Unlike paintings done on canvas, however, glazed tiles become highly durable and have many practical and decorative uses after kiln firing.           Using hand painted tiles provides a chance for you to add your own personal touch to a design project, be it a new home, a redecoration or a commercial space. Tiles are excellent in the kitchen and bath, in an entryway, on the wall as a mural of any size, as house address numbers. They can also be framed and hung on the wall as art or used on the table as trivets.
